No. SIINC is a hosted service with no agents or servers on your network. You authorise the platform, add storage credentials and pick what to back up.
Back up the project platforms into storage you already govern.
SIINC lets IT and BIM managers back up Procore, Autodesk Forma and BIM 360, and Oracle Aconex on a schedule into an Amazon S3 bucket or Azure Blob Storage container in their own cloud account. It connects through the official APIs, and backups only read. SIINC writes back into a platform only when you run a restore. Nothing runs on your network, and you own the connections, the storage and the security review.

What IT and BIM managers answer for when a backup tool connects
- Which third parties can reach the platforms, and with what permissions.
- Where project data is stored, in which region, and under whose retention and access policies.
- Getting a new vendor through the security review before anything connects.
- Keeping the Autodesk hubs in order as projects close, regions change and accounts merge.
- Not ending up with a copy of the data that only one vendor can read.
Questions IT and BIM managers get asked about construction platform backup
- Does a construction backup tool need write access to Procore, Autodesk Forma or Aconex?
- Not to back up. SIINC backups only read, through the official Procore, Autodesk and Aconex APIs. SIINC writes into a platform only when you run a restore, which can put records back into the same account or a different one. On Enterprise, the archived-project feature brings archived Autodesk projects into backup scope, when you start it or automatically.
- Where does SIINC store our project backups?
- In an S3 bucket or Azure Blob container in your own account, in the region you choose. Your lifecycle rules, retention, immutability and access policies apply as normal, and SIINC works with S3 Object Lock and Azure immutable storage turned on. SIINC runs a write test before it saves the storage connection.
- What happens to the backups if we stop using the vendor?
- They stay in your bucket as the original files plus JSON metadata, in a documented folder structure. You can read them with standard AWS or Azure tools, so there is no proprietary archive that only SIINC can open.
- Does SIINC support single sign-on?
- Yes, Microsoft Entra ID sign-in with two-factor and role-based access, on Professional and Enterprise. Each customer gets an isolated workspace, with storage and platform credentials held per tenant, and the audit log records every user and admin action for 12 months.
- How do we move a BIM 360 project to another hub or region?
- Use the SIINC Migration Tool, which copies a BIM 360 or Autodesk Forma project and 24 of its modules into another hub, including across regions. Every file version comes across, the links between records are rewired to the new IDs, and nothing is written to the target hub until you confirm.

IT and BIM manager backup questions
IT and BIM manager backup questions
Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and in transit, and SIINC is independently penetration tested. SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 are both in progress, not yet certified. Microsoft Entra ID sign-in with two-factor and role-based access is available on Professional and Enterprise.
Backups use read access through each platform's official connection, and SIINC writes into the platform only when you run a restore. For Procore, a verified company connection through the SIINC Procore integration. For Autodesk Forma and BIM 360, application credentials cover Files, and other modules need user authorisation or a service account with the right project permissions. For Aconex, an OAuth connection using the user-bound or web-server flow. SIINC captures what the connected account can see, and nothing more.
Credentials with write access to that one bucket or Blob container. SIINC verifies the connection before the first run.
You do, directly to AWS or Azure at your own rates. SIINC charges per GB per month for the data it backs up.
Start a trial workspace or book a demo and we will run the first backup with you.
